Sawsan Morrar is the school accountability reporter at The Sacramento Bee, covering K-12 education and colleges. She is multimedia journalist and earned her MA at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. She is a graduate of UC Davis, where she received a BA in International Relations and minors in Communication and Middle East South Asia Studies. 

​Sawsan freelanced for various publications including The Washington Post and Vice. She was an associate producer at Capital Public Radio, Sacramento’s NPR affiliate news station. She reports on a wide range of issues including education, environmental stories, police shootings, and legislative hearings at the state capitol.

Sawsan is a White House Correspondents’ Association Scholar, Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting grantee, and an Ambassador Christopher Stevens Scholar.
